You want to have your website but you cannot decide which is better between NameCheap vs Godaddy. If you are in this situation that will help you make the right decision. I am an online marketer and I use both but have been using Namecheap more as they do not up sell you to death like Godaddy. Plus, I guess it depends if your FOR or AGAINST the way Godaddy market their business.
I also prefer Namecheap because it comes with free privacy for the first year. It is important to note that Godaddy does have more coupons though. This is my choice; what is yours? There are arguments to support either of these web hosting companies in most NameCheap vs Godaddy discussion forums and reviews online. To enable you make the right choice I will give you information and facts about each of these two.
NameCheap vs Godaddy – the pricing
In terms of pricing Namecheap is the clear winner in NameCheap vs Godaddy. The following table explains this clearly.
Comparison of the pricing of Godaddy and NameCheap
COUPON | WhoIs Protection | Domain Name | Total Cost | |
Godaddy | 0 | $ 8.99 | $11.99 | $20.98 |
NameCheap | -0.88 | FREE | $9.98 | $9.10 |
From the above table, it is very clear that NameCheap is the way to go if you want to get cheap web hosting service.
NameCheap vs Godaddy – the coupon codes issued
Coupon codes enable the purchases make great savings on their purchases. Again, Namecheap emerges victorious in the NameCheap vs Godaddy because it offers excellent coupon codes every month. The coupon codes for this September 2011 from Name Cheap are as follows:
NameCheap Product | Coupon Code | Discount |
New Domain sites | HOTNCOLD | You save 0.88 |
Web Hosting for Business, Shared, Reseller | MellowFall | You will save 10% for the first month of the service |
Virtual Private Server (VPS)- The Xen Packages | WindOf Change | You will save 10% for the first month of the service |
There is no business or any individual person that does not mind about the costs and once again I recommend Namecheap. Every single month, NameCheap issues coupon codes to its customers to enable them make great savings on the already low priced services. You can use these codes for domain name transfers as well as for the new domain names
Godaddy also issues various discounts at various times but according to the comments in NameCheap vs Godaddy, there are some hooks that are associated with this. You are required to buy big bunch of domains at once or alternatively buy web hosting with the company.
Most people do not want to buy names in bulk. From my experience as online marketer, it is only the affiliates that want to dominate the niche markets that buy domain names in bulk. Like most other online marketers, I buy one domain when I have an idea for new domain name and so I do not need them in bulk at any given time.

NameCheap vs Godaddy – WhoIs protection
WhoIs displays to the public your email, name, address and even the phone number. While most people are of the opinion that businesses should be transparent about their contacts, I am of the opinion that there should be some form of privacy. By exposing your whoIs you risk spamming by the spammers.
Namecheap offers FREE WhoIs protection for the first year. From the second year you have to pay $2.88 for one year protection. Godaddy offers the same service at $8.99 from the first year. The renewal price remains the same.
At this point do I need to say which is better between NameCheap vs Godaddy?
Personally, I have a lot of domains when I first started out in 2009 with Godaddy. I have been pretty tired of the countless upsells and the super long check out process. I have since started in 2011 to buy all my domains through NameCheap. Both are good and both I would recommend.
The last point to why I chose name cheap. Moving a domain to my hosting account I have found that namecheap to be 10x faster. Well in terms of time NameCheap is done in seconds to minutes. I have had a godaddy domain take hours before moving to a hosting account. Just something to think about for the whole namecheap vs godaddy and why I use NameCheap.

I would never host my domains with GoDaddy, I’ve heard some horror stories about their support people. Thanks for the nice breakdown.
